Thus far, we have raised $100,000 in four months towards the purchase of the cathedral. That is quite significant for our young church. We are now launching into phase two of our fund-raising, with the goal of raising another $330,000: $110,000 more for down payment, and the rest for our first year operations and mortgage payments, and improvements and upgrades in the cathedral.

Churches and business associates from across Canada and the U.S. are eager to give and participate in this project; some already have, to the tune of $20,000! Our goal is to “Take the Cathedral” by July 1, 2006!

If you would like to give to this project, you can do so by following the directions under “Giving” on the website.

Crossing the border between Manitoba and Ontario, on 12 March, 2000, God spoke, “Take the Cathedrals.” We were in the midst of our move from Red Deer, Alberta to Montréal. The phrase has since become marching orders for our mandate in this beautiful city.

The province of Québec has a rich religious history and the many cathedrals and majestic churches stand as testament to an era where the church was front and centre in the culture of its people. Now largely empty and in many cases for sale, these buildings still hold the potential to play a significant role in the spiritual life and renewal of the people. They simply need a vibrant congregation to be a viable enterprise.
